Pumpkin Patties

Fried pumpkin patties with cheese are a Southtyrolean dish you should absolutely try!

Utensilien

  • Bowl
  • Grater

Zutaten
  

  • 300 g pumpkin
  • sunflower oil
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 300 g bread cut into small cubes
  • 200 ml milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 100 g sharp cheese
  • parsley and/or chives
  • 1 tbsp bread spice mix coriander, cumin, cardamom...

Zubereitung
 

  • Peel the pumpkin (depending on the variety) and dice it. Fry it in some vegetable oil and add some water, cook until soft and season with salt and pepper.
  • Chop onion and garlic and fry them in some oil as well. Add pumpkin, onion and garlic to the diced bread and let it cool for a few minutes. Whisk milk and egg together and add to the bread.
  • Grate the cheese and add to the bread as well, let it soak for a minute. Combine with your hands, season the bread-mixture with salt and shape into patties. Fry them in some sunflower oil for approx. 3-4 minutes per side until golden and crispy.
  • Put the patties on paper towel to absorb some of the oil and serve with salad.

Tipps

You can make classic Southtyrolean dumplings instead of patties and cook them in salted water instead of frying them as well.
