Braided Easter Bread

This braided Easter bread is kind of like a brioche, but better. Make this easy recipe and enjoy!

Utensilien

  • Bowl
  • Baking tray
  • Baking paper

Zutaten
  

  • 1/2 package dry yeast or fresh
  • 125 ml milk lukewarm
  • 100 g sugar
  • 550 g flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 70 g butter
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 splash rum
  • 1/2 lemon zest

Zubereitung
 

  • Dissolve the yeast in warm milk, add the rest of the ingredients and knead until you've got a smooth dough. Let it prove for about 1 hour or more/less if you use less/more yeast. 
  • Divide into 3 ropes, braid them and put the ends together, this way you get a nice wreath. You can also make a regular braided loaf or little bunnies! Preheat the oven to 180 °C while the bread rests.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes.

Tipps

I don't brush the bread with egg-wash because I don't really like the sticky feeling and taste of it, but you can do that before baking if you like.
